The Big Winter Donation Drive is our campaign to support charities across the months of October, November and December.
The month of October was designated for the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance - a group of companies in the plant and plant hire industry, including Sunbelt Rentals, acting together to support the humanitarian effort in Ukraine.
Sunbelt’s Regional Social Impact Champions and network of Depot Champions quickly mobilised donation points at key depots and helped to communicate the appeal to staff, customers, and the supply chain.
Teams reacted quickly to gather donations ready for an autumn convoy that left in mid-October, and that transported donations to a warehouse in Košice, East Slovakia, which would then go on to be distributed throughout Ukraine by local volunteers.
Jackie Cuthbert, Director of Social Impact at Sunbelt Rentals said, “We are so proud of our teams who reacted quickly to support an extremely worthy cause and help us make a difference.
“It is so important that we join across industries to strive to make our society and world a better place for now and the future generations. Well done to everyone involved in this campaign, and for those companies in our industry who have led the way.”
The war in Ukraine began in February 2022 and saw over 10 million people flee the country to safety. It left millions of families homeless and struggling to access necessities such as clothing, food, and shelter.
The Plant and Hire Aid Alliance provides aid and helps raise public awareness about the hardships that have been inflicted on millions of Ukrainian families.
Jeremy Fish, CEO of Ardent Hire who founded the Plant and Hire Aid Alliance, said: “The Plant and Hire Aid Alliance sees our industry pulling together to support the humanitarian crisis in Ukraine and has proved that when we combine our efforts, we can achieve astonishing and amazing success.
“A big thank you and congratulations to Sunbelt Rentals UK and Ireland who collected 38 boxes of donations for our Autumn Convoy, which contained some 6,100 items. Well done Sunbelt team. You did great! You should be proud of yourselves. 100%!”
