Circle Square, Manchester
Circle Square is a £750 million development on the site of the former BBC building in Manchester. Being constructed as a new city centre neighbourhood in the heart of Manchester’s Oxford Road district, Circle Square will take eight years to complete.
It is being delivered over three phases and once fully finished, will include over 1,200 homes - both serviced apartments and private residential accommodation, more than 500,000 sq ft of offices, a 158-bedroom hotel, shops, restaurants, bars and more. Within this, 683 apartments are being built for Affinity Living across two 37-storey and 17-storey buildings. Two thirds of the scheme will be complete by 2020.
MPB Structures was selected by John Sisk & Son as the construction partner to deliver groundworks, reinforced concrete sub and superstructure packages on several buildings in the first phase of the commercial development at Circle Square.

Canterbury Cathedral
Canterbury Cathedral is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England. Dating back to 597, it forms part of a World Heritage Site and is the cathedral of the Archbishop of Canterbury. One million people visit the cathedral every year as worshippers, visitors and pilgrims. As part of a major £25 million restoration project known as The Canterbury Journey, the leaking roof above the Cathedral Nave will be replaced and a new Welcome Centre will be created. The works will also include restoration of the main entrance to the cathedral from the city - the Christ Church Gate.
To allow the works to take place, a huge scaffolding construction has been erected inside the cathedral. Scaffolders have built a 53 metre long safety deck above the Cathedral Nave as a platform both for the Cathedral’s conservation team to work from and to catch any dislodged stone and plaster. To allow the restoration work to take place, Canterbury Cathedral Works Department required the use of a Passenger and Goods Hoist and a Goods Only Hoist for the duration of the five-year project.
Snow Hill Phase 3 Development
Birmingham’s Snow Hill development forms part of a 20-year, £600 million plan to help make the city a global finance hub, otherwise known as ‘Birmingham’s Canary Wharf’. Covering the Snow Hill and Colmore areas of the city, the Snow Hill development comprises the creation of two million square feet of new office space, plus changes to roads and a redevelopment of Snow Hill rail station - the main connection between Birmingham’s business district and London. The development provides a framework to create 10,000 new jobs and is a key regeneration site in Birmingham’s Big City Plan.
Phase 3 of the Snow Hill development comprises the construction of a new £90 million landmark city building known as Three Snowhill. It will provide 360,000 square feet of offices over 16 storeys, along with 40,000 square feet of leisure and retail space and parking areas. It will join neighbours One and Two Snowhill and is expected to be completed in early 2018 by BAM who have been awarded the contract to build Three Snowhill.
